We will be back in AXA in a few weeks for our 5th trip. All we ever do it beach, villa pool and restuarants. I need some ideas to keep my non-beach-going mother in law happy on her first trip to AXA. We are staying at SBE.

What is the best spa for massage? We might go to the beach while she is there, so driving is not an issue if the destination is a resort.

How is the tour/cooking lesson at Cuisinart?

What else is there for her to do?

Other than t-shirts, is there any shopping I have missed?

Maybe a day trip to SXM to shop, but she has been there with us already.

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Some things that come to mind for your sunless mother-in-law are:

-A day at the brand new Venus spa at Cuisinart. Don't forget the new hair do.

- The Cuisinart tour and cooking lesson is fabulous.

- A cooking class with our very own Jo-Art. Don't forget to plan a pizza party with her for a funfilled, delicious evening.

- Private lessons with one of the many talented Anguillian based artists.

- Not glamourous but how about volunteering at the AARF shelter or one of the schools if they aren't on break during your visit. Or a pre-school/child care center/library.

A day trip to St. Martin is always exciting. So much to do. First, pastry and coffee at one of the Marigot pastry shoppes, the butterfly farm or a tour of the fort. How about hiring a car with guide to tour the entire island to capture the flavour of the villages and a ton of photographic opportunities. Lunch at one of the Grand Case restaruants or Tropicana in Port Royale in Marigot. Every woman loves to shop, jewelry stores, Lipstick, Oro de Sol, art. Less glamourous - a trip to Rima for shopping. Or how about exploring the wonderful French grocery stores?

-Fly to St. Bart's of Saba for the day

- Art Tour of Anguilla - stop by the AHTA for the brochure.

- Tennis or sailing lessons.

-A visit to the Anguillia Heritage Museum and Coville Petty in the East End.

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure others will come up with lots more.

If you're there during carnival (7/31-8/Cool there are concerts, parades, boat races(sorry in the sun) but you could probably find a restaurant or shaded area for her.

Book a massage with Susi (235 8399). She comes to your hotel or villa.

If on the Island long enough, pottery lessons at Devonish. They are wonderful and you get to keep your pieces.

Too bad the Pyrat Rum Factory has closed . . . you could have given her the tour, gotten her sloshed, and let her sleep the day away . . . Wink

I like TTG's suggestion. Maybe another bar might do the trick?

One or two of Gwen's rum punches might do the trick. Then she could sleep away the afternoon one of the hammocks in the shade. I was there yesterday afternoon and there were several people doing just that. Beautiful breeze and the hammocks were gently swaying.

The beach has come back big time.
